The Story of the Chili Open

Founded by:

The Rotary Club of Strongsville in 1992. The Chili Open’s Humble Beginnings started and continues to this day at the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds.

A small event by anyone’s standard hosted in an out building, heated by Rotarians personal kerosene heaters, and about 100 in attendance.

Now A Can't Miss Event

Since those first years The Chili Open Golf Classic has turned into a can’t miss annual event. Since its Humble Beginnings, and with the generous support of area business, The Classic has raised over $2 million for various charities locally, nationally and internationally.

This FUN-RAISER has become a February Tradition for over 30 years in Northeastern Ohio, drawing nearly 1,000 golfers who tee off into blasts of frigid air, putt across frosty greens and warm up in an event hall full of hot food, good drink, and sizzling activities.

The Chili Open also supports scholarships awarded by the Strongsville Rotary Foundation and other Rotary Club of Strongsville projects.

Day of the Event:

  • Doors Open at 9AM | Festivities begin at 10AM
  • Unlimited Golf: 9 Hole Course on the Fairgrounds. Bring a few wedges and a putter: Enjoy as much time on the course as you want.

One Color / Per Person / Per Round

Heads and Tails Game played every hour on the half hour.

Game 1 – 12:30am (Pink Beads)

Game 2 – 1:30pm (Black Beads)

Game 3 – 2:30pm (Orange Beads)

Game 4 – 3:30pm (Blue Beads)

Four Finalists play for The Wheelbarrow at 4:00pm.
